When you think of California Wine Country, Sonoma County easily springs to mind. Just 45 miles north of San Francisco, Sonoma beckons with delicious food and wine, art, and a gentle reminder to slow down and enjoy life.

The first time I traveled to Sonoma, I did what I always do planning a trip: spent months manifesting my perfect vacation. I don’t know about you, but when I travel, I want the best of the best — the most luxurious accommodations, mouth-watering meals, and unforgettable entertainment.

More than that, I want to be the only tourist in the room. I want the hidden gems — not the tourist traps. To me, the perfect trip is a truly local experience. Of course, this is easier said than done.

The trick, I’ve found, is talking to the right people.

I plan trips like most people, inquiring with friends and colleagues who’ve been there and scrolling the internet for hours. But this barely scratches the surface of a local experience.

To truly understand a place, I follow the movers and the shakers in the community on social media. These could be local leaders, business owners, artists, or anyone who lives there and wants to showcase the best of their city. I’ll even reach out to ask questions and get recommendations that are tailored for my needs.

This approach to travel is how I first fell in love with Sonoma. So, let me save you hours upon hours of research and give you just the BEST of the BEST of Sonoma with this three-day itinerary.
Enjoy!
